The Green Party have chosen Emily Tomalin as their general election candidate in Maidenhead in preparation for the coming general election.
Ms Tomalin said “I have worked all my life on Green Solutions to create a fairer, healthier society. Austerity has gone too far, creating poverty and weakening our communities. The Green Party vision is to shift taxation onto Carbon and the income from these taxes will be redistributed as a Universal Basic Income, hugely extended clean public transport (think electric buses), and support for environment friendly businesses such as Solar Panel installation and wildlife friendly farming. It’s a dynamic, fair and healthy vision which provides a sustainable base for communities and businesses, while tackling the danger of Climate Chaos.”
Ms Tomalin, a resident in the constituency for 23 years, is an engineer who has worked on wind farms in Wales, and in Maidenhead worked for local authority funded TV Energy focussing on solar energy and energy efficiency. As a consultant for Housing Solutions in Maidenhead she advised on installing Solar Panels which lead to large scale installations and reduced energy bills for renters. She is a founding Director and Company Secretary of innovative local energy business MaidEnergy Coop. She has recently become a Governor of Furze Platt Senior School.
